ANC-AU Youth Advocates

The Youth Advocates Program is a unique opportunity for students who have finished school to join the Armenian National Committee of Australia for our Annual Advocacy Week in Canberra. The program is designed to assist young Armenian-Australian applicants to practice the art of political debate and advocacy and to provide first-hand insight into the inner workings of Parliament in Canberra, from the perspective of politicians and interest groups.

The initiative has earned the support of the ANC-AU Internship Program's Hagop Kortian Scholarship, with part of the $10,000 commitment dedicated to ensuring that the program is accessible to as many youth as possible, some of whom may be future applicants to the Scholarship.

The program typically features:
  • A two day trip to the nation's capital Canberra, with fellow Armenian-Australian youth, as well as members of the Armenian National Committee of Australia National Board and Office;
  • An Advocacy Workshop, where professionals will pass on theoretical and practical advocacy tips;
  • A Mock Parliamentary Discussion at Parliament House, on a topic of national relevance, moderated by MPs;
  • Mock Advocacy sessions with actual Members of Parliament and Senators;
  • Intimate networking opportunity with MP's
  • Attendance at Parliamentary Question Time.
